Why Do You Need These Permissions

We ask you to give us permission to use and access various parts and features of your browser, and we thank you for giving us that trust so willingly. We'd like to just take a moment and explain why we ask for the permissions we do:

  • Your data on all websites: 2cloud is built as an open source project. We specifically built it so that you weren't forced to use our server and could set up your own if you wanted, simply by changing the "Host" option in your extension and phone. Unfortunately, the connection between browser and server can only be created between the browser and a URL it has access to the data for. We had to choose between hard-coding in our server (something that would require you to re-compile the extension if you wanted to switch hosts) or setting the extension to be able to access any host. While this warning is scary, the extension only ever accesses the domain in your Host setting. We promise. And if you don't want to take us at our word, you can always inspect our source and/or compile the extension yourself, just to be extra sure. If you need help with that, let us know. We're happy to help.
  • Your tabs and browsing activity: 2cloud opens a new tab for you whenever it receives a link. For us to be able to offer this functionality, we have to have access to your tabs.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
